The Dome is in a horrible spot for large scale tailgating. It's a bitch to get to and from the Dome on I-10, and there really isn't any large enough parking area to get a true tailgate going. So you're left with everyone walking the streets to go bar hopping.
That being said, as [censored]ty as the Saints have been throughout their history, they have never lacked the finacial support of the fans. The big problem is that there aren't enough big time corporate sponsors in the New Orleans area to keep up with other franchises.
