Maybe some of the Michigan posters on here can enlighten me?
Rodriguez: Mallett, star receivers gone
Michigan could have some more player attrition in the coming weeks, which would prompt the program to fill even more holes, Rodriguez said.
" There are a few guys, (after) talking to our medical staff today, (and) they appear that they probably won't be able to play anymore," said Rodriguez, who declined to go into details.

Hard to say without knowing who they are. One name that comes to mind is Antonio Bass. I have no doubt that the school can use his athletic scholarship for someone else and still pay his way through school. It's unlikely he'll play football again.
