OSU looking at Brinson?

Ohio State coaches are taking another look at McKinley’s record-setting running, Ryan Brinson. But don’t expect much to change. An opportunity could open if the Buckeyes are turned down by four backs they are recruiting.

OSU is making a mistake in not going after Brinson, who is waiting on college entrance test scores. If Brinson is a qualifier and meets OSU’s academic requirements, the Buckeyes should offer him a scholarship.

“I don’t know how sincere they are,” Cross said. “I know they think he is a great player, and they think they could end up playing against him. At the college level, you’re looking for people to fit with what you do. They haven’t said no, but they haven’t said they’re gung-ho going after him, either.”

The Buckeyes prefer big running backs. Who knows why? Lydell Ross and Maurice Hall certainly didn’t light up the world. Both fit Ohio State’s “big-back” mentality.
