Region four
Whiting is a big winner, and so is Trinity
By Chris Fisher

The Region Four heavyweight wrestling final had a football flavor to it.
Two of Louisville's more-sought-after football recruits breezed into yesterday's final, where Trinity's Jordan Whiting pinned Central's Mister Cobble to help the third-ranked Shamrocks win their fourth consecutive regional crown.

Whiting, ranked No. 4 in the state, is also one of the top linebackers in the country and has committed to Ohio State; Cobble is one of the state's top linemen and is being recruited by the University of Kentucky among others.
Whiting, who started wrestling five years ago at 134 pounds and now competes at 225 pounds, said wrestling has its benefits.
"It makes you a better football player," he said. "There's no better sport for conditioning. It helps with flexibility and staying low, which is important to playing linebacker. But the competition is the same. It's mano a mano."
