Truly - if you want a simple solution that will be useful not just for BP, but also for yourself, I would recommend the following.

A - Get yourself a relatively cheap DVD-Recorder.
B - Hook up one of the cablebox DVR outs to the inputs on the DVD-Recorder.
C - Make a DVD using the "record to VCR" options of the cablebox DVR - note, this will most likely occupy the cablebox for the full duration of the game. If you want to watch regular TV it may be that you can use an external antenna input to the HDTV you own.
NOTE - Any output of the type I describe will send down-sized SD content to the DVD-Recorder - not bad really as it will keep size under control.
D - When making that DVD make it a normal DVD - that will make the translation to a DVD file tree much easier.
E - Once done take the DVD onto your PC - copy the VIDEO_TS folder into a location on an NTFS formatted hard drive.
F - If you just want to serve it as is without shrinking the Video files then you are ready to use the guide stickied in the Media Forum for making a torrent.
G - If you need to undertake customizing of the DVD (removal of commercials, shrinking to a smaller size, conversion to DiVX) then you can first look here - avsforums. Alternately, just accumulate the files till a guide is written by a lazy bugger called sandgk that will help you with that step.

A Guide is being written right now - but I've also had other conversion / authoring tasks to undertake - plus, what I think will be a pleasant surprise for the BP community. Guess the rumors of my laziness are modestly overstated.
