Big Ten championships hit water today at OSU

Starting today in the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, Ohio State will serve as host of the Big Ten women's swimming and diving championships. If the Buckeyes aren't careful, the guests might take most of the hardware when they leave Columbus.
Ohio State finished eighth in 2007 and the top five teams from last year's meet all occupy spots in the top 25 poll produced by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.
The Buckeyes, sporting 12 freshmen and 11 sophomores, could be in for some tough love this weekend, especially after losing top swimmer Samantha Cheverton, a freshman from Lachine, Quebec, who dislocated a knee last week. She's hoping to be ready for the NCAA championships March 20-22 and the Canadian Olympic trials April 1-6.
