Penguins are also 8-1-1 this year against the West.
Penguins Vs. West
Anaheim - W - 5-4 (Anaheim is different now, though)
@ Minnesota - W - 4-2
@ Colorado - L - 2-3
Dallas - W - 4-1
Phoenix - W - 3-1
@ Edmonton - W - 4-2
@ Calgary - W - 3-2 SO
@ Vancouver - W - 2-1 SO
LA Kings - W - 4-2
San Jose - L - 1-2 SO (It should be noted, though, that the Pens played this game on February 24th. They played against Ottawa on February 23rd. San Jose had not played a game since February 21st).
Do not confuse Western Conference dominance in the NBA for Western Conference dominance in the NHL. 3 of the last 4 Stanley Cup winners have come from the Eastern Conference.

pitt is
4-1-0 vs the nw
4-0-1 vs the pac
havent played a game vs the central div
pitt is 9-11-2 in the atl div.
10-5-2 vs ne
9-4-2 vs se
that makes them one of 3 teams with winning records vs the west conference, 3 teams in the west having losing records vs the east (one of them being the sharks)
that being said 1 game is not equal to a 7 game series.
facts aside i feel that the west is better and deeper vs the east. the east plays a more up and down run and gun wide open style than the west. the rough and tumble grind style will be tougher to beat.
the front runners id say at this point are ducks, sharks, stars and devils.
as mentioned before i dont know how i feel about conks in net. hes looked good and youve got maf bobbing between pitt and swb. i just dont see him and his mental lapses paying dividends in critical moments.
