I was also going to hop in and say, let's not be too quick to paint this kid as a "victim." He got caught with weed...how is that being a "victim"?
I know environment plays a huge role in how people shape their worldview/lifestyle, but I'm not so quick to all of a sudden say that a kid with a full-ride $100K scholarship (out of state tuition) is a victim when he chose to do what he did.
I'm saddened by it and hope for the very best, I don't want him, or anyone to fail, and I'd love to see him succeed. Hopefully he isn't considering himself a victim and instead goes out and makes a good life choice to take advantage of the next opportunity he gets.
