This is very interesting. They must think that Baxter could be ready to go. His leadership would definitely help in the secondary.

Baxter, whose long-term contract was shortened after his injuries and ran out after the 2007 season, was re-signed to a one-year contract by the Browns today. They also re-signed fullback Charles Ali.
Baxter beat the odds last year by being medically cleared to return to action at the start of training camp -- nine months after surgeries on both knees. He was on the active roster for the start of the season, but did not appear in a game and was placed on injured reserve for the final 10 games.
The new contract will allow Baxter to finish the job he started.

"This is very important for me to sign a one-year deal here and to finish something I started," Baxter said in a statement released by the club. "This has been a long process but right now everything is going well and I'm going to continue my quest to make history.

I also saw on ESPN bottom line that Troy Brown was cut by the Patriots. I wonder if there would be any interest in bringing in him as a veteran CB since we are really lacking experience at that position. Don't know how much he would want.
