GREEN With no hope beyond luck of sudden impact from the draft, Romeo Crennel focused on what he already has.
"My first- , second- and third-round picks are already on the team, working," the Browns head coach said Thursday during a stop at the Northeast Ohio Celebrity Luncheon Club.
Quarterback Brady Quinn and defensive ends Corey Williams and Shaun Rogers are involved in the offseason program that kicked off last month. Those three cost the Browns their top three picks in next weekend's draft.
"We feel good about the guys we have," Crennel said. "If you take a guy in the draft, it takes a while for him to develop."
Williams and Rogers were signed to reverse the fortunes of a defense whose coordinator lost his job. Unlike them, Quinn has barely played in the NFL.
In a post-speech interview, Crennel bluntly clarified where his quarterbacks stand.
"Derek Anderson is the starter," he said. "Brady Quinn is the backup."
