i think you also have to look at it that the coaching staff is coaching bud, they are looking to get these kids to improve themselves. i also think you have to realize that a writer wrote this through the quotes of a 17 year old kid. play telephone twice, see what happens. now play telephone twice off of advice of a 17 year old.

look at it this way, if bud puts on 12 lbs does it mean he automatically wont get an offer?
if bud gains 17 lbs does it mean he automatically doesnt get an offer?
