I think tOSU offered and accepted a commitment from BJ Mullens the Summer after his 8th grade year (before he started his Freshman season in High School).

I think now-a-days that recruiting is so competitive that you have to at least start developing relationships (maybe even extend offers)with some of these kids (and their families) earlier and earlier if you want to have a shot at the top talent in the nation.

At the same time, I see what you're saying and I wonder where "the line" should be drawn.

I'm not sure of the answer, but from the way BJ has developed over the last few years, I must admit that I'm glad our coaches "got in on" him early, and happy that he'll be wearing the Scarlet & Grey next season (at least for one year, but that's a different discussion )
