I don't know how effective Byrd would be coming out of the bullpen plus the reason that they just sent Mastny down was because there is no real need for a long reliever. I would has to think that they would not release/trade Byrd because you never know if one of the other starters might go down during the season. They need to keep him around for a safety net but he would have to get some work somehow and the Indians really don't use long relievers that much. Maybe again something is going on but I can't think of any team that would want PB.

After Matsny getting sent down I could see Aubry getting the callup for a few weeks, and then moving Byrd to the bullpen at the end of the month. You just don't play around with someone pitching as well as Laffey. Plus Laffey proved he was good enough last year.
This rotation is pretty sick right now.
