On a personal note, and in true selfishness, I really hope gay marriage doesn't become a nationally recognized institution. I want my free Delta tickets.
Okay, so my friend is a pilot for Delta. He gets 8 buddy passes a year, which his friends may use to fly anywhere Delta flies (including, for instance, China), on standby, paying only taxes and fees. He gives them to me, or he used to, and he will now again soon.
For the last year or so, I was in a buddy pass drought. My friend had a girlfriend, and she lived in a different city, so the tickets went to her. (damn women!

)
Now, however, Delta has a policy allowing pilots (and, presumably, especially flight attendants) to register their significant other as a "partner" or some such thing, where even though they are not a spouse they still fly for "free" all the time. This policy was enacted to account for gay employees who were denied free flights for their life partners, while spouses received this benefit. My friend (ab)used the system and used it for a different purpose: he set his girlfriend up as his life-partner, or whatever, and I now get my tickets back!
So, you see, with gay marriage legalized, this Delta policy would likely fade, and I'd lose my tix. So please, think of me, oppose gay marriage.
