What's his incentive for making it up? He already received the early offer from Wisconsin, so that's his selling point to other programs. Whether or not Wisconsin has scholarships left is irrelevant to his stock in the recruiting world.

Of course the staff would cover up a leak of a possible transfer. You think they're going to let fans speculate about who could be leaving? No way. That would mean negative scrutiny for several kids, and pressure being put on the specific player to leave the program. They don't want to push anyone out.
