Ben Francisco has been one of the good things to happen to the Indians during the first two months of the season. The rookie outfielder has done everything asked of him to spur the club out of its offensive funk.
So it seemed totally unfair that it would be Francisco's glove that did him in during Sunday's 2-1 loss in 10 innings to the Texas Rangers. At least that's probably what the 35,464 took with them as they left Progressive Field after the Tribe lost for the eighth time in its past nine games.
But when things are going bad, even the routine plays become arduous. How else to explain Francisco allowing Ramon Vazquez's two-out single off Masa Kobayashi (2-2) to go through his legs in right field for a two-base error that allowed Jarrod Saltalamacchia to score the winning run from first base.
