I'm glad you think you've got me pegged. I know perfectly well what the Rose Bowl means and the tradition behind it. Do you really think that tradition is so weak that Tulsa and Bowling Green playing a "meaningless" game in Alabama takes away from it? It's funny that someone who is so concerned about the bowl traditions would still chuck it away for a brand-new system.

Sorry, but if you're vain enough to think that the GMAC Bowl, MPC Computer Bowl, and the Motor City Bowl are driven by fan interest and think they are viable bowl games, then I'd like to sell you my California-Hawaii Bridge. The more bowls there are, the more it takes away from the overall "prestige" of being a "bowl team". There was a time when being invited to a bowl game was a great accomplishment, for just about any program. Now, it's almost a failure for most teams if they don't make it to a bowl.
