Mike Thomas, the University of Cincinnati's athletic director, said in a statement on Friday that he ultimately will decide the playing status of Alex Daniels.



Daniels, a linebacker from Columbus, was one of four players dismissed from the Minnesota team in 2007.
Thomas said the decision on Daniels "is forthcoming and will come from my office. We are reviewing the situation closely as we examine Alex's character, academics, and conduct."
