while i was completely against the decision, i understand some of the mentality behind it. first and foremost, your best threat has the ability to roam the field and attack the ball on obvious passing downs, this is never a bad thing. not to mention the fact that we were starting anderson russell (half a year experience) and curt coleman (absolutely 0 experience). on a defense with 1 senior, the youngest group was safety by a large margin. thats saying a lot. safety wasn't so much an area of weakness per say. but it certainly wasn't the d's greatest strength due to the inexperience. so im sure the coaches were also looking at it from an exposure situation as well.
personally, im all about learn while you burn. but thats just me.
