IN MOST BOWL GAMES:
A) One team has a geograpical advantage.
B) One team will be playing in a stadium used by teams in their conference.
C) One team will be playing in a state within their conference area.
D) With the exception of the Motor City Bowl none of those advantages favors a Big 10 team.
You will never convince me that the crowd in the Rose Bowl is evenly split between Big 10 and Pac 10 fans. Likewise any Big 10 Team playing in the Cotton, Orange, Sugar, Citrus, Peach, and whatever game they play in Nashville or Memphis is at a disadvantage compared to any SEC team. Folks in Georgia/Florida/Louisianna/Texas do not go to a game to root for a Northern team against a Southern team. That's a home field advantage.
