The justice system already has a definition of community service, right? Why not use that? And randomly audit the hours of those taking the credit.

And add to that, how many college students not named Reggie Bush ( ) are making enough money to even GET a $4,000 tax credit?? What's is that number based upon? Total income? Total income of the family? Total what?
It's refundable. You don't have to have $4,000 in paid taxes to get the credit.

And, assuming it would act like the existing credits, parents can take the credit if the student is still their dependent.

This "plan" is just pandering to college students to get them to vote for him. It doesn't appear very work-able to me.
Pandering to college students? Really? A tax law that would require community service in order to get a tax credit (possibly for their parents)? I'm not sure about that.

Pandering to their parents.....yeah, I might buy that.

I think the education credits should be there if you are taking enough credit hours. I don't think it should be attached to any other requirements.
And I disagree. If this encourages people to pursue their education AND volunteer in the community. Double bonus.

(Again, I'm not sold on the increased amount.)
