Davion Rogers didn't play football last year as he had to focus on other issues. Now a junior, he's bigger, stronger, and faster than he was his freshman year. Skill wise, he has all of the tools to do great things on the field, but he'll prove his worth as he continues to gain more experience. He's already cracked the starting lineup for WGH, and his size alone didn't get him there. He has a hunger for the ball and the desire to do whatever it takes to make plays.
Obviously, it's still early for Ohio State to have seen Rogers (given his situation). That said, WGH traditionally plays a challenging schedule, so he'll have plenty of opportunities to show college coaches what he has to offer. If he continues to develop, somebody will eventually take a chance on Rogers based on size alone. It will take a lot more than that to impress Coach Tressel and his staff, but right now Rogers is only worried about developing his game even more. He's not in a situation to where he's never played the game before, so he won't have to be taught the basics (sometimes, you get that with bigger guys who decide to start playing in high school). He has work to do, so I'll keep you all posted.
FWIW, in yesterday's season opener at Shaker Heights, Rogers used his length to cover lots of ground as not only did he register several tackles for a loss, but he knocked down 3 passes as well. If he can start turning those deflections into interceptions, his stock will rise a lot quicker.
