I have considered that as well. There will still be penalties for teams that lose early in the season because they might not make the cutoff: 8, 16, whatever. I like the teams that can come in hot because that means they are playing tough in their respective conferences..which SHOULD be the hardest part of their schedule.

What could also happen that is not desirable is a team could sneak in with a conference championship from a weak division and not be the team with the best record in their conference.

I guess I want to see teams that are prepared and well coached. I can't REALLY take anything away from OU..they played hard all year and are undefeated. But I expected more than they brought to the dance.
