Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark is conjuring up memories of Michael Robinson leading the Nittany Lions to the No. 3 ranking in the nation in 2005, while the Nits have watched tape of the Kerry Collins-Ki-Jana Carter undefeated offense of 1994. After four wins by a combined score of 211-40 against weak competition, Penn State isn't the obvious favorite with conference play beginning this weekend, but it is the most dangerous team in the Big Ten.
With Ohio State in flux, there is no favorite.
Wisconsin is the highest-ranked Big Ten team at No. 9 in the AP poll, with Penn State (No. 12) finally jumping Ohio State (No. 14) and Illinois hanging on at No. 22. Minnesota and Northwestern join the Nittany Lions as the conference's only undefeated team, 3-1 Michigan State remains an intriguing darkhorse, 1-2 Michigan is the only team with losing record, and as a conference, the Big Ten is 6-6 against BCS teams, with two of the wins coming against Syracuse.
Figuring that the Big Ten won't be taking a spot in the national title game this year, who's going to the Rose Bowl?
