Plymouth star passes another milestone

By CURT CONRAD ? News Journal ? January 3, 2009

Brook Turson awkwardly stood near midcourt as his father and coach, Brad, presented him with a commemorative game ball before last week's game against Lucas.
For the first time in his storied high school career, Plymouth's All-Ohio point guard looked uncomfortable on a basketball court.
The younger Turson was being honor- ed for topping 1,000 points, a milestone he achieved in an 82-80 win at Monroeville on Dec. 20. He gave his dad a hug, acknowledged an appreciative crowd then did what he has done so many times before -- orchestrated a win.
His 25 points, five rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocked shots were key in a 69-50 victory.
"It's nice to have 1,000 points," the 6-foot-3 junior said, "but I want to win more than anything. I think everyone in that locker room is the same way."
"It's tough to play defense against someone like that," Lucas coach Andrew Carver said. "He takes the ball to the hole and his vision is so good. Someone out of the corner of his eye that regular players wouldn't see, he sees and gets them the ball.
"You try to run two guys at him and he'll find the open man. He's not selfish. Then his teammates hit the open shots when we ran at him."
