I was stunned at how negative Carroll was, just moments after Sanchez announced his decision - what should be a joyous occasion for the Sanchez family had USC's coach throwing cold water on the proceedings. It was basically "good luck, but you're making a mistake".
Can you tell coach disagrees with the decision - WeAreSC Forums

He looked like an ass. While he has Mark's best interests in mind, it sure didnt look sound like it to the uninformed viewer. I think it was a big mistake on his part.

Pete went on for some time about how you need to maximize the opportunities that you've been given, and in his opinion, Mark isn't doing that. He talked about Mark's limited starts, how the NFL wants to look at those things, how Mark is leaving them guessing as to how he can handle many things . . .

Pete CLEARLY did not agree with Mark's decision. IMHO, Pete looked a bit small.

Mark is back on TV again - he's taking questions from the media. Gotta go.

So you're saying that Pete should have just gone on the air and not speak on his feelings? Pete was honest with his assesment...that's why recruits come...that's why the program succeeds.

Pete supports Mark's decision, however, he does not agree with it...neither do his parents, brothers, or the former SC players that he mentioned. I for one respect Pete's candor.
Nope. Not what I said.

Rule number one - always look gracious. Speak graciously even when you disagree. Pete made it clear that he disagreed with Mark's decision. He was honest - as you would expect him to be. But know when enough is enough. He carried that on, in my opinion, for 45 seconds too long, and in the end looked a bit ungracious.

I respect Pete's candor as well, but why make this the story? You know that the LA media is going to beat this to death now. In situations like this, the less you say is best.

no he explained how teams like to get information and mark wasnt giving them enough information, and how the failure rate is high, right after mark eloquently thanked everyone and said how appreciative he was for everything

also mentioning how if some people no longer consider him part of the trojan family like he somehow was under the impression he failed, it was not the time for that from carrol

theres really no other way to look at it
