The fact that the last "All-Everything", can't-miss QB prospect out of USC (one of the first QB recruits on his watch, if I'm not mistaken) was handed a clipboard in favor of gray-bearded Kurt Warner, and another USC QB not living up to expectations in the NFL would somehow tarnish the image of what he has going on at USC.

Just thinking out loud here. Well not out loud, but you know what I mean. It just seems for him to react this way, there has to be an underlying reason. I'm not familiar enough with Carroll to know what the most likely reason would be. Like I said, he usually just throws the next 5* kid in there and they don't really see much of a drop off. I'm surprised to see that from him today.
I could be way off but I'm of the opinion this is a coach who just saw his chances of winning a National Championship next year greatly diminished and he lashed out like a petulant child. Even if everything he said about Sanchez was correct he picked a very inappropriate time and place to make his feelings known.
