We can go back and forth on how cool and uncool the recruiting process is these days, those of which end in the hat tossing, and so forth..

I remember reading about Melvin's recruitment back before he had even committed to Illinois. His quotes led us to believe that he was a strong lean to the Buckeyes. I can't quote him directly, but "it's been my dream to be recruited by the Buckeyes" and "where I've always wanted to play".. are some of the ones I think of.

He commits to Illinois! I hated it at first.. but I am the only one of my friends who read BP and follow this stuff, and they are my vent.. I thought at that time, that if tOSU was Melvin's dream school, and his goal was to be recruited by tOSU, but yet he was an Illini commit...

I think Melvin was giving the coaches the feeling of "you need to recruit me hard!"

I don't think Melvin was going to play for Illinois, ever..

in other news, genron is a smart fellow.
