Another benefit to drafting Freel #1 is that there is a strong chance he takes out Nick Markakis (if another owner is foolish enough to believe Markakis of more worth than Flarney/Freel).
Freel or Tavaras overall#1? Tough call. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Just make sure you get Javier Valentine to be your C and 1B utility stud no later than the 2nd round.
