Richt: No heat with Florida's Meyer - SEC - ESPN
Quote:
ATHENS, Ga. -- Even though the Florida-Georgia rivalry has been spiced up considerably
the past few years, Georgia coach Mark Richt said his relationship with Florida coach Urban
Meyer isn't nearly as confrontational as a lot of people probably think it is.
"No, I don't think it is, and I don't think he thinks it is, either," Richt said.
Meyer called a pair of timeouts in the final seconds of last season's 49-10 rout of Georgia
just to rub it in. The timeouts were in response to the wild end zone celebration by the
Bulldogs a year earlier that was ordered by Richt after they scored their first touchdown
in a 42-30 victory.
"When my wife had cervical cancer two years ago, two [SEC] coaches called me --
Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer," Richt said. "Not that others didn't care, but they're
the ones who called."

Nice to see the 'Ole Ball Coach and UM stepping up. It is only a game, and no matter how much we think otherwise, there are far more important things than a football rivalry - even among hated conference rivals. Like family. Kudos to both men.
