Brent Benedict - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN
Quote:
Benedict is an athletic offensive lineman that gives exceptional effort. He is a lean lineman with the frame to put on more weight even though he already has very good overall size. Shows strength but can put on some more bulk without losing quickness. Comes out of his stance with good pad level and gets into defender immediately. Good with the hands and fights to sustain blocks and works to keep proper leverage. Instinctive player that knows when to chip to next level. Slips to level two fluidly while maintaing balance and body control. Takes proper angles backside to cutoff the inside defender. Hustles to get blocks downfield. Demonstrates ability to knock defender off the line of scrimmage and drive legs after initial contact. Pulls and leads with solid fundamentals and has agility to pick up defenders in the openfield. Long arms and quick hands make him a sound pass protector. Has the athleticism to mirror defenders and sustain block while maintaining positioning on the pass rusher. Has the feet to be an edge pass defender but must be careful to not over extend. Benedict has a huge upside and as he gains strength in both the lower and upper body he should develop into a very effective offensive lineman at the next level. He works hard and gives good effort and concentrates on his footwork and fundamentals of hand placement. He could play either guard or tackle as he matures and sharpens his skills.
