Eh, Fedorov was definitely one of the most skilled players in the last 20 or so years, but to me, he never showed the clutch mentality to be considered one of the all-time greats. He could pour in 5 goals in a 5-1 win over a chump team, but when his team was down by one in the final minute, he was rarely the go-to guy. I'm thinking only of his Red Wings years. Stevie Y was obviously the man in clutch situations, but I seem to remember more big play goals coming from guys like Lidstrom, Shanny, Draper, McCarty, or Maltby, than Fedorov. I honestly can't remember an instance when he made the big play that stole an important game for his team, perhaps one of the resident Wings fans can jog my memory. I always considered him the type of player who shined when he could get by on skill alone, but disappeared when the going got tough. I'd put him a notch above Kariya, but just below Selanne or Jagr. Probably a hall of famer, depending on the strength of his class, but I don't see him getting his number retired.
