I don't know where I got that 10-12 minute number. I thought a Wings' fan told me, but I just checked and he's been above 16. He's pretty solid defensively, but he's only scored goals in three playoff games, two of which weren't close. 9 of his 12 playoff points have come in four games.
I think if I were the Wings I'd rather let a team overpay him and save some room for some younger guys coming through the system or get another vet who can be productive for much less. Hossa isn't a necessary piece for the Wings. I'd laugh if he wanted to stay and they didn't sign him. It'd be a slap in the face similar to what he did to the Pens. He could be making more for the Pens and have 7 years in place. Instead, he chose a one-year deal and might be back with a non-contender again next year.
