Sun Devils fall to Texas (ASU Official Site, Free)
OMAHA, Neb. - The Arizona State University baseball team fell 10-6 to Texas in the 2009 College World Series on Tuesday in front of a crowd of 24,152 at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Sun Devils are now 50-13 on the season, and they will face North Carolina in an elimination game on Thursday.
Texas catcher Cameron Rupp hit two home runs, including a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh, to lead the Longhorns. Pitcher Taylor Jungmann went 5.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen to earn the victory.
Kole Calhoun had three hits, including his second home run of the College World Series, to lead the Sun Devil offense.
Carlos Ramirez also had a home run, his team-leading 19th of the season, and
Jared McDonald drove in two runs.
