Ohio State 10th in national standings
Ohio State ended up 10th in the Directors' Cup standings for 2008-09, which determine to rank which Division I college has the most successful overall athletic department.
You can find the release, and link to the standings, here.
Some highlights for those who don't want to follow the link right now:
-- Stanford won, for the 150th straight year....actually 15th. Somewhere, Andy Geiger is bursting with pride.
-- OSU was second among Big Ten schools. Behind Michigan. Chew thoroughly before swallowing.
-- It was OSU's highest finish since 2004, when the Buckeyes were fourth. OSU's best finish was 2003, when it was third....averaging out the results, OSU finished 18th in the first five years (1994 to 1998), then had a good run in the middle six years, averaging 9th (1999 through 2004). In the past five years, the average is 12th (2005-present).
