A rare undecided: Arguably one of the most coveted players in the country, who is still undecided, is 6-9, 215-pound Adriean Payne from suburban Dayton, Ohio. He's a consensus top 15 recruit in the country with the skills to play any position along the baseline.
His list of suitors include West Virginia, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Kansas, Xavier and Dayton. After helping his team advance to the title game of the King City Classic, Payne confirmed he is still an open book in the recruiting world.
"I'm keeping everything open," he said. "But I'm going to commit before my high school season starts."
If that's the plan, then his calendar should be pretty full between now and Thanksgiving. Payne said he has yet to take one of his six NCAA allowable official visits, and indeed had not even cut his final list down to six.
"I'm just going to take my time," Payne said.
In the recruiting world, his time is dwindling by the day

UD target Payne starts strong at LeBron Classic
By Doug Harris, Staff Writer

DAYTON — UD recruiting target Adreian Payne has dropped 12 spots to No. 20 in the most recent Rivals.com top-100 list, but he’s helping himself with a strong showing at the LeBron James’ King City Classic this week in northeast Ohio.
Jerry Meyer, a recruiting analyst for Rivals, gave the 6-foot-10 center from Jefferson High School a glowing review on the Web site Thursday:
“Adreian Payne put together one of the best performances we have seen him have in his opening game of the event where he got the best of Rakeem Christmas (of Philadelphia). Payne did most everything you would want out of a big man from blocking shots, rebounding in traffic, scoring in the post and hitting open jumpers.
“If Payne demonstrates the potential to sustain this type of effort, he will slide up the rankings from his present No. 20 spot.”
