Once again Dodd proves to be an idiot who doesn't do research.
Titles, top talent, now own Network -- SEC rules on high - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com
OK, the SEC is getting $3 billion over the next 15 years.
Now lets look at the B10 numbers
Big Ten could reap $2.8B from network deal
The B10 gets $1.2 billion for 10 years from the national networks. The B10 can also make up to $2.8 billion for 25 years.
I will do a couple scenarios.
1) Under assumption - Assume the same average for the national contracts over 15 years and the 2008 average per team in the B10 Network. That is $15.27 million per team per year vs. the SEC average of $16.67 million per team.
2) Average assumption - Average of the max B10 Network (over assumption) + current average of national deals (under assumption since a renegotiation will happen in those 15 years). That is $19.37 million per team per year vs. the SEC average of $16.67 million per team per year.
So, at a minimum the B10 teams will make a little over a million less, and more than likely make more than SEC teams. Good job Dodd.
