No. 13: Sophomore center Mike Brewster

Placing Brewster was a struggle. Here's what I think we know: Brewster is one of the two offensive lineman who is going to be in the starting lineup. Justin Boren is the other (future highly-ranked player alert).

And we're almost certain Brewster is going to be the center, though he and Jim Cordle split time there in the spring and there may be a scenario in which Ohio State's best lineup includes Cordle at center and Brewster at guard.

But between Cordle, Bryant Browning, Andy Miller, J.B. Shugarts and Mike Adams, no one is sure who the other three starters on the offensive line are going to be.

So for his relative level of certainty, Brewster deserves a spot. For the fact that he started 10 games last season at center, a very difficult position for a freshman, he deserves a spot. And while he uses some criticism he finds online as motivation, Brewster himself will tell you he wasn't great at times last year.

In some moments, he found a way to get in a defender's way and fill his role, but his footwork and technique weren't always there. For the Michigan game, he said it took awhile to calm himself down. He experienced the same things Terrelle Pryor did at quarterback.

But with the three best centers in the Big Ten from a year ago gone to graduation, it wouldn't be a surprise if Brewster emerges as an All-Big Ten player this season. As I said while disagreeing with Pryor's selection as the Big Ten's preseason offensive player of the year, he's not there yet.
