Teague decision likely after school starts

Shawn Teague, father of Pike standout junior-to-be Marquis Teague, said it?s likely that his son?s college decision won?t come before school starts on Tuesday.

The 6-2 Teague is playing at the adidas Nations in Dallas through Sunday, capping a full summer for the point guard, who is ranked as the No. 2 player nationally in the 2011 class by rivals.com.

Teague is weighing offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Purdue and Wake Forest.

?With the schedule he?s had, we really haven?t had a chance to stop and see what direction he?s going to go,? Shawn Teague said. ?I think he?s in a good position. We definitely want to make sure it?s a decision he?s comfortable with. We?ve just been so tied up week to week that it?s been difficult.?

The elder Teague said the decision will probably be ?flexed out? a bit into the school year.

?We?re going to let him sit back and rest a bit, collect our thoughts and see what he wants,? Teague said.

There?s no truth the rumors that Marquis will be running fly patterns for Pike?s football team this fall. He did express an interest to his mom and dad, though.

?That kind of threw us for a loop,? Shawn Teague said with a laugh. ?He spoke to us about it and he liked playing in years past, but he hasn?t mentioned it again so we kind of let it go.?
