Jets not concerned about Mangold's injury
Center hurts right knee in running drill
By Dan Sweeney ? dsweeney@gannet.com ? Staff Writer ? August 10, 2009
CORTLAND - As New York Jets starting center Nick Mangold walked off the field with a trainer during practice on a gray, overcast day at SUNY Cortland, the Jets' hope of returning the same five offensive linemen that started each of the team's 16 games last season looked briefly gloomy, much like the weather.

Mangold went down about an hour into Sunday's morning practice during a nine-on-seven inside running drill and did not return.
However, coach Rex Ryan said the injury to Mangold's right knee is not believed to be serious. He said there is no ligament damage, and that he doesn't know the timetable of Mangold's return but he may miss a practice or two.
"Anytime you deal with a knee it is a little scary," Ryan said, adding that "he should be fine."
In his fourth season out of Ohio State, Mangold is part of an offensive line that paved the way for the AFC's leading rusher, Thomas Jones.
The other members of that offensive line are left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson, right tackle Damien Woody, left guard Alan Faneca and right guard Brandon Moore.
