It's been an up-and-down season for the Spartans, unfortunately marred by the same inconsistency that did them in at times last year. They currently stand at 5-2 and 6th in the D-IV, Region 16 computer point rankings.

2009 Valley View Spartans Results / Schedule
Their two losses are to what appear to be a very strong Lemon-Monroe team (6-1) and an unusually subpar Bellbrook team (1-6, but competitive in every game this season, aside from vs. Alter). Kyle Pohl, the standout Spartan QB, recently went down with what was (last I heard) diagnosed as a concussion, so, after a big, 9-7 win over Franklin on a last-second field goal (
Prep football roundup: Late field goal lifts Valley View over Franklin), I'm not sure what his status will be against a suddenly-good Carlisle team this week (seriously, Carlisle is 6-1???). With Carlisle one spot ahead of Valley View in the computer rankings, a win would do wonders for those point totals before the Spartans wrap up the season with two tough games, first at Eaton (both Spartan losses have come on the road this year), and then, as usual, concluding the season against Brookville, this time within the friendly confines of Barker Field.
