2. Whoever is in charge of nationwide communication on the importance of this issue need to be fired. Losing in middle America is one thing - losing in California and Maine is something else.

If supporters of the issue are looking to the White House or Capitol Hill to help jam the issue through the judicial system - I hope they brought a magazine and a good book - because they will be waiting for awhile. No politician (no matter how far to the left they lean) will touch an issue that is 0-31. It's a loser and they'll distance themselves from it.

Which is why it was so brilliant of Rove to use it as a wedge issue. Brilliant! It is a gift that keeps on giving for the GOP, and it also is the view of many black voters, which is an ironic plus for them.
