Any of you scratching your heads after seeing the weekend starting rotation?
I like Trent going on Friday. He has lots of experience and should be comfortable starting that ever important first game, but madsen pitching the front end of the double header? I expected he would go in the second game for sure. (so Mike could get a little bit more time to rest and recover) I think its a smart move to keep him out of the 9 inning games, but why not just save him until the back end of the DH. If i had my way, I'd throw Luebke and then Madsen. Its prolly a silly question, but it just struck me as kinda odd...Then again, Coach Todd knows his players a heck of a lot better than i do!
No doubt Illinois will pitch Blomquiest and Conroy right out of the box, but i feel like we can handle the other two starters they will throw at us. Their bullpen is solid...Flooney has been a dominant reliever so far this year. If we steal one of the first 2 games, we may get 3 of 4.
