MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- A third Central Michigan football player has been charged with criminal contempt on accusations he lied during testimony in a case involving the beating death of a 26-year-old man.

Jerry Seymour, a first-team Mid-American Conference running back, was arrested Wednesday in a weight-training room at Central Michigan's athletic complex, police said.

Two of Seymour's former teammates who have graduated or are expected to graduate in May have been convicted of criminal contempt.
Seymour is accused of lying during grand jury testimony about his movements outside the Shaboom Pub Club in Mount Pleasant. Demarcus Graham, of Flint, was beaten into a coma outside the bar on June 25 and later died.

Seymour, a 20-year-old sophomore from Florida, faces a contempt hearing on April 7. He was held in the county jail on $10,000 bond.

Seymour has been suspended from the team.

"I have said from day one that anyone charged in connection to the Demarcus Graham case will be suspended," Central Michigan football coach Brian Kelly told CM Life. "He's been suspended and we clearly are moving on."

Seymour ran for 1,284 yards last season and had 47 receptions for 413 yards. He rushed for 1,117 yards in nine games as a freshman.

The two players convicted of criminal contempt are former linebacker Jonathan Nelson of Chicago and former cornerback Richard Kiel of Detroit.

Two other students also have served 30-day jail sentences for contempt since grand jury proceedings began last fall.
