I hope I do not sound too negative but as someone that played and help recruit at a Div I school those guys from the military prep schools can be trouble.

While I was taking recruits out they were the most likely to get drunk, get into a fight and make way too aggressive and unwanted advances toward women. They were not the brightest guys back then so I would not expect any better now.

That is just my opinion and it has been awhile.

"We are hopeful that things work out well for Kyle and we can welcome him back into our program in the near future," Ferentz said.

Williams signed a national letter of intent to play for Iowa in February and was considered by recruiting experts to be the prize in the Hawkeye recruiting class after earning first team all-American honors from several media and recruiting organizations.

But Williams failed to meet scoring thresholds on NCAA tests for incoming freshmen and will enroll at Milford Academy, in New Berlin, N.Y., the school's head coach said.

Williams will join fellow Hawkeye recruit Shonn Greene, who enrolled at the academy after being declared academically ineligible. Neither player will lose a year of college eligibility, Milford coach Bill Chaplick said.

"As far as I know they're going back" to Iowa, Chaplick said. "If everything goes right academically, they'll be there in January."

Williams leaves Iowa for Purdue

Ex-Iowa recruit will land at Purdue
Linebacker Williams didn't qualify to play for Hawkeyes but retakes test, chooses Boilers.

Highly regarded linebacker Kyle Williams started the college football season at Iowa. By next semester, he plans to be a Purdue Boilermaker.

Williams, a 6-2, 217-pound outside linebacker from Bolingbrook, Ill., has made an oral commitment to play for Purdue. He originally committed to Iowa and even worked out with the Hawkeyes in the preseason, before eligibility issues arose. The NCAA eventually ruled he did not meet freshman eligibility requirements.

Iowa issued a release in August stating that Williams fell short of the required test score.

He is expected to be eligible at Purdue, though, after retaking a standardized test last month. Williams, who visited West Lafayette last weekend, plans to enroll at Purdue in January and participate in spring drills.

"He was one of the most special players in last year's class," said Jeremy Crabtree, a national recruiting analyst for Rivals.com. "His nickname (Bonecrusher) is his calling card. When he hits you, you definitely know it."

Rivals.com gave Williams its top rating, five stars, and named him the second-best outside linebacker in the country among last year's recruits. He is the first five-star recruit Purdue has landed since Rivals began compiling the ratings in 1999, Crabtree said.

Williams, who did not return phone calls Monday, signed a NCAA letter of intent with Iowa in February after concluding his career at Bolingbrook High. He spent the summer in Iowa City and participated in the early part of preseason practice.

"It's simply a huge pickup for Purdue," Crabtree said. "He'll step on the field and compete very quickly for a starting position."

Williams still will have four years of eligibility at Purdue.

Purdue is a tough school... if the kid has grade issues, I don't know he can keep his grades up at a school like Purdue... good luck to him...
