any info on him? how good is he? why was he released?
he was a 4 star back on Insiders and Rivals- considered one of the top backs in Florida last year (along with the Canes other signee Charlie Jones). Not sure what happened. But HH probably knows, maybe he can fill us in? |

I remember this kid, we were in on him early, then he committed to miami. He was always an academic questionmark He was a top 15/20 back and sounded pretty good, but not as good as charlie Jones (top 5).
They did an article about him where he bashed charlie Jones and said that he wasn't shit (b/c of his running style) and that he was going to be the man at miami. It was posted on BN as an example of how miami players are (bad teammates). With accademic and teamwork issues, I don't see JT being very interested. |

I'm pretty sure Miami pursued him a lot harder and offered him a lot earlier than Charlie Jones.
Here are a couple recent news releases: Article #1 Posted on Mon, Aug. 02, 2004 Hurricanes to grant RB Bobby Washington release Associated Press CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Miami will release former Parade All-American running back Bobby Washington from his scholarship, coach Larry Coker said Monday. Washington, who ran for 5,695 rushing yards and 61 touchdowns in his career at Miami Killian High, was ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's third-best prep running back following his senior season. Coker's statement did not specify why Washington asked for his release. Washington was one of three backs Miami signed as part of this year's incoming freshman class. "We wish Bobby tremendous success wherever he may go," Coker said. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Washington was a three-time All-State selection at Killian. Article #2 RB Washington denied enrollment at Miami BY OMAR KELLY South Florida Sun-Sentinel MIAMI - (KRT) - Bobby Washington, one of Miami's prized signees, was denied enrollment and is searching for a new school. Washington, who was considered one of the nation's top tailbacks after rushing for 2,132 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns in his senior season at Miami Killian, was granted a release from his letter-of-intent on Monday after learning that UM's admissions department denied his application. "Bobby and his parents came to us and sought to be released from his letter-of-intent, and we are in the process of granting that release," coach Larry Coker said. "We wish Bobby tremendous success wherever he may go." While most recruits took visits to other programs Washington committed early, declining to make any other visits. He even attended night school, retaking classes to raise his grade point average with the belief that it would allow him to enroll in the fall. Even though he's not going to be a Hurricane, Washington likely won't be a stranger to Miami. Sources say North Carolina State, Miami's new Atlantic Coast Conference foe, appears to be the front-runner for his services. This is the second year in a row UM's more-stringent admissions standards has denied the enrollment of a prospective student-athlete. Last year Nate Robinson, an Irvington, N.J., prospect who was rated among the nation's best linemen, wasn't admitted and enrolled at Rutgers, where he played sparingly. Along with South Dade's Charlie Jones, Pittsburgh prospect Andrew Johnson and Louisiana standout Derron Thomas, Washington was one of four incoming freshmen slated to play running back. UM coaches envisioned two of them playing immediately, and based on the way the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Washington had excelled in the teams voluntary workouts this summer, he was a near-lock to be one of the two. I remember some of his quotes from last year that cracked me up. He's a confident young man...
When asked how strong his commitment is to UM, Washington began talking about his situation. "I'm gonna try to take somebody's job next year," he said. "Moss better be ready. I dont know when Frank comes back but he better be ready for a challenge. I saw a list of the nation's top 25 players in the paper and they disrespected me. I'm not listed. I'd like to see if those running backs on that list could run for 1,500 yards for two years in a row in Dade County playing the competition we play. They wouldnt, I know they can't. I aint worried about it. I'll be in the League someday." Insiders 1/25/2004 "I guess the two running backs UM's taking are me and the (<!--Default NodeId For Derron Thomas is 622097,2003-->Derron Thomas)," <!--Default For Washington is to ignore-->Washington said. "Who would be No. 3?" <!--Default NodeId For Charlie Jones is 667924,2003-->Charlie Jones would be the other. "Oh, please," he said. "He can't play there. Look at the year he had. He's overrated. Until he runs against the city schools like I've been doing, I don't see it with him. I ran for 205 yards against <!--Default For Northwestern is to ignore-->Northwestern my sophomore year when they had that great defense two years ago." Insiders 11/10/2003 |

Here's a new article on Washington that also shows Miami losing another recruit (for a year) to grades, and also a couple of their recruits are grey-shirting, including Josh Kerr from Ohio.
Have we found out any new recruits that we've lost to grades? Article Top recruit granted release: Miami-Killian High School tailback Bobby Washington, considered one of UM's top recruits, has been granted a release from his letter of intent, Coker announced. Coker said the decision was made after Washington's parents requested the release. Coker did not specify why he granted the release although there were questions about whether Washington would be able to qualify academically at UM. Washington, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, ran for nearly 2,000 yards last season and was ranked by SuperPrep as the second-best high school prospect in Florida behind Miami-Carol City linebacker Willie Williams, another UM signee. Miami-Washington defensive lineman Antonio Dixon, another UM signee, will attend prep school this year after failing to qualify for enrollment at UM. Two other signees -- receiver Cedric Hill of Valdosta, Ga., and Strongville, Ohio, offensive lineman Josh Kerr -- are expected to defer their enrollment until January. |

1.) Did Washington not have enough felonies to get into Miami? *rimshot*
2.) Since when did NCSU become the NCAA's Island of Misfit Toys (no offense to DeJuan Morgan)? 3.) Why is it that Dennis Kennedy was "dropped" by OSU, yet Washington was "granted his release" by Miami? |

In Kennedy's case, I think he got all the way to the final admission decision--meaning that, for the record, Ohio State did deny admission. I could be wrong, but I think that's the technicality. |

Amato has great recruiting contacts in Florida, and realizes that the only way NC St. can be competetive in the new ACC-FSU,Miami,V-Tech-is to become a bottom feeder, sucking up the other schools academic rejects-like Michigan State and Auburn. Ohio State and Miami do not have to sink to this level to remain competetive-NC St. does.

Different deal. He had a 18 ACT and 2.4 and was accepted by Miami. He left due to ACT questions.
DK had 29 [EDIT] SORRY 21, and 2.6 and was not accepted by OSU admissions. I knew he was going to have problems. His advisors had him go into a private school so he would not have to take the mandatory FCAT. I tried to get them to get him help since 10th grade and they would not listen. BTW, he got caught....
