Interesting Buster Avis threads

http://forums.the-ozone.net/messages/51530.html
http://forums.the-ozone.net/messages/51612.html

You always have to take things on forums, particularly about recruiting with a grain of salt, but his comments and perspective make for a good read. Does anyone here have an opinion about this guy?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I found myself wishing there was an email address for him so I could invite him to post over here.

And an out of place voice of reason;
http://forums.the-ozone.net/messages/51352.html

--edit--
"voice of reason" isn't a rip on the Buster character, just relative to the general insanity that's going on everywhere over the Fred Davis drama.

Housteau contacted Avis via email some way, but I don't think he would want to post here (low traffic) and I could do without him. I think he does have some inside scoop, but I also know he has alot of BS in there. Why in the world would Xavier Lee do the thingss he accused him of? Absolutely no motive there.

Yea, I checked out these posts and don't now what to make of them. "Buster" is really playing up the brainwash affect that XL supposedly has over Fred Davis. I can't really beleive this to be true. I would think that Fred's family and his coach would have more of an influence on him than a guy he's known for such a short period of time, but who knows?

All of us really want this kid, no doubt about it. I've read ramblings about WR NOT being a need position. Maybe I've been smoking the wrong cigarettes, but where I sit I see Holmes, Hall, and Childress. That's it! Davis would likely get PT here next year.

Buster Avis must be a Columbus thing. I truly have
never read anything of his. After reading those two
links, I can honestly say I will never read anything of
his again. That was just too much instant bonding for
me.

I've read the Buster Avis posts with a grain or two of salt. He's a very nice storyteller, and is interesting to read, but since no one knows who he is he doesn't have to be responsible for what he says. By his own admission, he's posted under several other names and been banned for some of what he's said in the past.

Personally, I think that anyone attempting to report undocumented news as fact should be willing to attach their real name to their work.

But I'll still read his posts.

EDIT: The Fred Davis insanity is out of control. My total sympathy is with him and with Coach Rios. People need to calm down a little when they follow recruiting. Look at what might be happening with Johnson at Pitt. The kid might actually end up recinding his verbal because of the way he's been attacked. You would think OSU fans would have learned from the Irizzary situation last year.

I have enjoyed reading Busta's write ups. He seems to know his stuff, whether it's true or not is another story.......I seem to think it is. It all makes a lot of sense when you look at how this whole thing has unfolded to this point. I think that he may sensationalize some aspects a little too strong, but he sure does make for a good read.

I actually just posted his name under the "Never Welcome" thread. This guy has an active imagiation. Sounds like some info might be true but then he ads more info just to make it more interesting. Someone also said on BN that he's been banned before under different names on the OZone. I'm not sure what to make of the guy..... I guess we'll just have to wait and see if his stories are true.

Thinking about it all, despite the entertainment value, a guy like Buster is probably most ideal on another board. We can still read his posts, without having to deal with the chaos here.

To be completely honest, I don't have any idea why I made that comment about inviting him over. lol. I mean I just don't remember why I thought that.

I have read his stuff before and he usually has some legit information in there. He seems to have gone a bit overboard lately with some of the personal comments about recruits. I don't know if he has some personal vendata or feels burned himself, but it is a little too much information.

He has admitted he used to post under some other name on O-Zone before he was banned.

I take anything and everything on forums with a grain of salt. Whether it comes from someone I know and like, or don't know, or don't respect, whatever. So I see Buster's post as a combination of possible info, and raw entertainment. Certainly I see some potential problems with some of the things he says, and how they could impact recruits who might come across it, but then I can say the same for posts on any large site. Had Ginn spurned us for scUM, I guarantee some ugly threads would have come up all around.

The bucks have three outstanding redshirt freshman receivers next year.
Dereus Hilley probably is the best one but I think Tony Gonzales and Devin Jordan also have a good chance to contribute. Especially Hiley. He should be a good one. Depth isn't really a big problem

If Fred finds his way to Columbus, that would be great. If not, that's his loss. Roy Hall has the physical make-up to be a dominating receiver. Devin Jordan was Zwick's favorite receiver in high school, and familiarity, although no guarantee, does help. All Tony Gonzales does is make plays all day long on both sides of the ball. IMO he and Curt Lukens will be the surprise players from last year's recruiting class. Ginn would probably see the O first, and I pity the poor DB set that must guard Holmes, Ginn and Hall running at them at the same time from a trips formation. Add Hamby and Irizzary, with the ability of Brandon Joe to catch coming out of the backfield. Not to mention my man MoC possibly in the mix.

I recall Duane Long stating after last year's LOI day that Hiley had some issues without expanding on what the issues were. He is also explosive in the open field when he gets the ball. Assuming whatever issues he had are resolved, next year's receiving corp will be just fine. And I have not even mentioned the main man back - Santonio Holmes.

Mili might remember the YSU teams in the mid 90s. YSU had 3 top receivers - Boykin, Bracy, and Zwisler, along with a few decent running backs. The 93 and 94 teams, although geared to a power game on account of YSU's dominating offensive lines during that period, also mixed it up quite nicely with the pass. Those teams were not too different from what we saw in the Fiesta Bowl - 20 to 25 throws a game with good execution on the pass plays when they were called. I look for the same thing next year with a little more passing.

IMO. next year's offense has the potential to be as explosive as Tressel will allow it to be, with or without Fred Davis.

Just to add to the "we have plenty of depth" argument, remember Miles Williams is coming and Duane is very high on him, top 10 in Ohio. Dajuan Morgan may get a shot at WR and he should be a good one. Don't forget Bam either. He showed a little flash in the Fiesta which was nice to see. We're also in on Devon Lyons, Dwayne Jarrett and possibly even Doug Dutch, the WR from DC. You never want to lose a major in state talent like Davis but clearly we're still going to be able to field a team next year.

Also along with the depth argument, can't Hiley and Gonzo play WR also. On another note with the WR's it is going to be tough throwing the ball in 3 wide sets with both Holmes and Childress being 6'1".
