They were given four points. Iowa kicked one through the end zone after a bad snap and deliberately took a safety because they half trust their defense. Penn State is awful on offense this year. Hopefully we'll score more than the Red Sox--that is all it takes to beat these guys.

They do the best job by far of breaking the game down damn near play by play. Go there and check it out.

for anyone who hasn't been there ( I cant imagine that there are many who have'nt checked it out) the site is the ozone


If we have 20 plays against Penn State that go for no or neg yards this could be another heart attck waiting to happen.

In my opinion the key to this one is get after them early. bust up thier offense let them know that they are not going to score more than a field goal or two to help demoralize the D. Keep the D on the field to wear them down. Their D is very good but it's not the best we have seen this year. Wisky's D was someting else against us and we didnt do [censored].

I just hope the rejuvinated efforts we seen sat carry over for this week.

Now, granted that doesn't take into effect their game vs Iowa or ours vs IU...

Well, that's pretty convenient to leave out the last games we both played. If Zwick wasn't on the bench, then you could go ahead and compare our first three conference games with theirs, but guess what...we had a significantly different offense last week (no Zwick at QB, no Ross at RB, better OL blocking), while Penn State did not. PSU's offense is averaging exactly 6 ppg in conference, and they've yet to score a rushing TD in Big Ten play.

Including this past weekend's games, here's the up-to-date comparison between the offenses:

rushing....126 ypg
scoring....16 ppg (not counting the two punt return TDs)
total O.....288 ypg

PSU Offense
passing....159 ypg
rushing....136 ypg
scoring....6 ppg (not counting the two safties against Iowa)

To say that the two offenses are similar when we are scoring twice as many points per game is disingenuous to say the least. Who gives a rip how many ypg a team gets if it wins? Or, conversely, if it loses? Points are what counts.

That is misleading. They're factoring incomplete passes as well. That means we had 8 plays that went for no yards or negative yards on the ground. Much easier to digest than 20. We had the same number of incompletions against Iowa so we were just flat out getting demolished on the ground. I would say we improved, we'll leave it up to Penn State to establish how much, but there was improvement.

oh i can tell you exactly what penn state fans think. they think they are going to win by at least 2 TDs. Theres a local bumble[censored] cop here who tells my dad every day that Penn State will win the National Championship. Even after they lose 2 games.

my dad owns a radio station and does the sports....for charity he auctioned off 2 opportunities to read the sports on the air with him. the idiots who won picked the day before the game and the monday after. they actually think they will win by 2 TDs and will rub it in his face before and after the game.

actually....the idiot cop wanted to bet my dad $50 that penn state would win a national championship in......get this.....2002 my dad told him to make it fair and change it to the big ten championship, but the guy wouldnt do it.

Jax, you can't use those stats for this offense. Thats kinda like the apples and oranges statement isn't it?? The question is if this new lineup of Smith, Pittman, Ginn, Gonzalez, Barton, and throw in Holmes, can all step up and improve upon the Indiana game and pass on this good Penn St. defense. They have 9 inteceptions so far this year. If Troy can throw on them and Pittman can run like he did this past week, then we will win and those stats mean nothing because this is a different OSU offense. OSU needs to keep this Penn St. defense out on the field with some long good drives and we win all the way. Then we also know if the "new" OSU Offense is for real. Although PSU's offense is terrible, OSU's defense needs to control the passing game of PSU. PSU has thrown 12 intereceptions this year which could be great for OSU's DB's.

2. If you go back and look at my original post I simply said both teams have [censored] offenses but they can actually pass a bit better. From there the thread disintegrated into a moronic argument. At no time did I say they had a better offense or scored more points.

3. If I am the only one who sees a parallel to Iowa in the PSU matchup then so be it. I notice no one is trying to twist and discredit what I said about their defense.

4. I thought some were joking when they reffered to the "new" OSU offense so I didn't reply. um....it IS a new offense. if you look closely, you will notice the QB is NEW, the RB is NEW, the playcalling is NEW.

Who's comparing IU and PSU?? The whole point was that PSU and OSU have about the same level of [censored]ty offense, but they(PSU) pass a bit better.

There is no question that they(PSU) have a far superior defense to ours and therefore my analogy to the Iowa game.

well the OLD offense sucked against NW. i would compare NW to IU.

face it....you cant compare Zwick's offense to PSU and then say PSU has a better passing game right now. we dont have the same parts.

therefore its NEW.
