wtf was with the offense early???
i am sooooo sick of tressel waiting to open the offense up until the defense is dead tired and the bucks are down 10

all of our newbs hurt us today. wasn't just ej. ginn completely misses an easy catch and it is picked. another freshman lets one bounce off his helmet. smith falling down pitches the ball behind the rb. that almost always ends up as a fumble recovered by the opposing team. i put that one 100% on smith. horrible pitch at the worst possible time.
3 things killed us today.
1. turnovers
2. injuries
3. youth
id also argue play calling, but you could also point to execution so...

As long as we score 51 that is fine...
(I know we can't score 51 in 4 games)
A few good things out of this game, I think, but now a game where TS makes a ton of mistakes, which had been the point that put him ahead of JZ in my miind... be interesting to see how he comes out in the scUM game, gun shy and afriad to make a play or confident? I am unfortunately expecting the former, not the latter.

It appears that the coaching staff is uneasy letting TS throw the ball downfield. There were only two passes that I recall in the first half that were more than 4 yards off the line of scrimmage. Can't do much when you can't run and can't pass.

haha...
the silver lining is that most of these guys are only going to get better going into next year. there was so much youth out there on that field today. everyone should continue to get better, unless they all catch the EJ disease.
it just seems like over pursuit and poor tackling has been the defense's biggest problems this year. the blame there falls on the coaching staff. our technique is horrible. and the lack of pressure up front is making life miserable for the LBs and DBs and putting them in situations where they have to rely on the technique they don't have rather than their natural athletic ability.
the offense turns the ball over way too much (duh), but to me that seems to be a problem of youth and playcalling. it just seems like JT gets in a groove with his playcalling and can't adjust THAT series. the adjustments always come 2 or 3 series later. tonight each series seemed to be all or nothing. either all formations involving TS in the shotgun with TG offset or not. why not go with that look one play and then come back with an I on the next and then go with an unbalanced line on the next. mix it up Tress!

I think this post sums it up well. Suprisingly I'm not too disappointed about this game. The offense showed some signs of life. The defense made adjustments at halftime and played much better despite all the injuries. This is a tough game on the road against a desperate Purdue team which we should have won. But, it doesn't really mean much as far as bowl consideration, so meh.

Who else thinks the team needs to put in about an hour of tackling drills as soon as they get off the plane?
Then they can sleep for a few hours.
Then film review.
Then more tackling drills
