Securing more of the top CA kids was by far his most important accomplishment in regards to recruiting. However, a lot of the publicity focuses on the out-of-state players.

Boy if USC fans think that PC is the main cog for the offense they are in la-la land. Pete Carrol is a defensive coach and has never been known as an offensively minded coach. Thats why Chow ran things. Think an OC doesnt make a difference??? Look at the influence Walt Harris had for tOSU when he breathed life into the buckeye offense Hoying went from a servicable qb to a leathel weapon.
It wont happen this year, but you will begin to see a difference in the USC offense. Recruiting will take a hit for 2 reasons.... number one, unless the new guys are as good at recruiting (pretty unlikely considering the wild success) the number of super studs will drop. 2 and more importantly, you dont find that that 5* kid wants to go sit the bench for a couple of year when he can go play at schools just as great in tradition.
PC is gaining a reputation (at least on message boards) for not being the most honest guy either. Its been widely reported that PC Knew Chow was going to the NFL and asked him to wait until after NLOI.... problem is he apparently also was less than fully honest with Matt Lienhert as well....

i also think that PC didn't tell ML about Chow going to the NFL...but you have to figure that ML knows the offense pretty well by now

I don't see how you could keep that from ML... unless you were trying to trick him. That's pretty low in my book, tho I've never respected PC's character.
You have to wonder what they told the recruits when asked this question. Not that there aren't enough talented players to interest them in USC, but would they have snagged Patrick Turner and others?

I can certainly entertain the possibility that the USC recruits were not fully informed of the Chow situation (although I have yet to see any evidence of this), but the Matt Leinart thing just doesn't add up to me. Matt Leinart doesn't need to rely on Pete Carroll for information about Norm Chow. Matt and Norm are very close (boy am I setting this one up). I would think that Matt would get the scoop about Norm leaving from Norm.
Also, Matt's last day to declare for the NFL draft was the 15th of January. The Titans OC job wasn't even open by then.

Ok, buddy. Normally I'd say that Don Pete wants to see you, your hard drive, and anyone you've discussed this with on the corner of Figueroa and Slauson at midnight. However, today's your lucky day cause I'm feeling generous. 11 letters in 'Pete Carroll', yes. But how many letters in 'Jim Tressel'? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. Umm....No, but JT's name is often mispelled. The common mispelling 'Jim Tressell' has 11 letters. So what now, huh? If you're going to say that about Pete, doesn't it also hold for Jim?
As for your Mark 8:36, Pete makes $3 million a year, so I'm pretty sure he can buy a new soul. What Pete wants, Pete gets. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to find a goat, a knife, and a virgin for Pete's evening meditations.
